Center for International Economic Relations of the Regional Chamber of Commerce Novi Sad was established in 2002. year, with the aim to contribute to improving the shape and intensity of economic relations with other countries of the Region. Due to differences in economic structure and economic entities in South Backa region, the center realizes its activities in cooperation with other centers in RCC Novi Sad. In the past, chamber system has gone through various periods of organization but the work program and activities, based on the experience, was defined on the following core functions:
  • Representing the interests of members and the economy as a whole in relations with the executive;ekonomski
  • Creating the conditions and environment to improve work and business in the economy;
  • Providing adequate services to its members, according to authorities and program orientation of chambers of commerce.
Since the establishment of RCC Novi Sad from 1975 to today, the issues of foreign trade and international economic relations are passing through a major transformation in the versus mode of treatment, macro-economic instruments and the degree of political priority.
1996 - 2005: Recognizing the need of opening the domestic economy to the world market, the Chamber in the period 1996-1999. made a series of contacts with industry and commerce abroad, and signed several protocols on cooperation with the chambers from Italy, Bulgaria, Hungary, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Czech Republic, Romania, Ukraine, Russia, etc.. Placed in this way, cooperation between the Chambers has supported the development of foreign trade activity, facilitated easier establishment of business contacts and connections, and more effective dispersion of market information.
In 2000. was formed the Committee for Economic System, Economic Policy and International Economic Relations, composed of representatives of the University of Novi Sad, the financial sector, major exporters and the Novi Sad Fair,  which focuses on expression, harmonization and development of common positions. There has been intensified the promotional activities abroad, as well as organizing business delegations and performing companies in a number of events in the Russian Federation, Germany, the United Arab Emirates, Italy, etc.. There has been realized the direct cooperation with several regions and provinces in Italy (Vicenza, Puglia, Emilia Romagna) and participation in international seminars and conferences in Austria, Hungary and the UK. That same year, the President of the Chamber becomes a member of the anti-corruption at the International Chamber of Commerce in Paris.In the following years, numerous activities of the Chamber and the Center for International Economic Relations took place both at home and abroad.
Intensification of international relations and the need for progressive adaptation of enterprises and institutions of decentralized forms of international cooperation, led to a further diversification of the activities of the Chamber in 2004. year. Establishment of business relationship with the Diaspora is emerging as a new opportunity to identify potential partners, particularly from the United States. In addition to the already established connections with several countries, the economy of the Region was represented in Turkey, Libya, Mexico, Argentina, Belgium, Belarus and Macedonia.
Specifics of the field of international relations, and heterogeneity of forms of cooperation and actors, have led to profiling specific groups of activities of the Centre for International Economic Relations. Domestic companies can have relevant data and information on operations with foreign countries; distributing information in digital form to its members allows them to keep in contact with the most active exporters and importers from the territory of the Region, in order to prepare specific information in accordance with business requirements of clients.
Animation of companies to more actively participate in various forms of international economic relations is one of the most important activities of the Centre, and makes the organization of thematic meetings and conferences in the Chamber, with the participation of external experts from home and abroad. Certainly, the most important part of the Center's activities is related to the representation of regions abroad, through the maintenance of presentations and participation in economic and national delegations, as well as through the organization presenting companies abroad through participation in various trade fairs, exhibitions and corporate events. In addition, improvement of economic relations is realized through the organization and presentation of foreign trade and business in the Chamber itself, then through the regular notification to the Chamber members about the attractive economic events overseas, and so on.
Cooperation with foreign chambers is the most complex part of the activities of the Centre and the entire Chamber, including different levels and forms of cooperation (institutional, economic and commercial cooperation), exchange of information on local regulations, macroeconomic trends and specific indicators, the exchange of business delegations, supporting the joint appearances of domestic and foreign companies in third markets, organization of thematic meetings and exchange of experts, etc..
In accordance with the intensification of the transition process and the expected activities in the direction of approaching the European Union, the future involvement of the Chamber in the field of international economic relations will be focused on continuing the study of national and European regulations, maintaining the appropriate level of attention and market presence in selected neighboring countries and the EU, providing individual -designed information and customer service, as well as, providing technical and professional support to local companies in contacts with potential investors or partners from abroad. Particularly important area of engagement of the Chamber is developing services with project character, easier access to information on project funds from international organizations and the EU and providing technical support in developing and managing projects.
Activities of the Center for International Economic Relations in the future will be primarily determined by integration process that began in the Republic of Serbia.
Considering that the goals of macroeconomic policies are increasing exports and foreign direct investment in the country, the Center's activities will continue to be directed to the appropriate promotion of the investment environment and incentives for foreign investment and finding ways to facilitate access to selected foreign markets. In accordance with national priorities in the field of international economic relations, special attention will be devoted to promoting the strategy of the Serbian Government to encourage exports and protect domestic production. Based on these assumptions, the specific activities of the Centre for International Economic Relations in the 2010 - 2012. year will focus on:
